Climbing the ladder

When you are in the process of climbing the ladder to pursue a dream career, many times you have to take jobs or certain steps along the way to build your experience that will make you a perfect candidate to land that dream job/career.

1. Take a look at where you are hoping to go with your career / jobs
2. Draw out a “road map” and list the positions / skills you need to gain to get there
   • What connections and relationships do you also need to build?
3. Now formulate your “steps” to get where you want to go
   • What jobs you need to pursue and in what order
   • What extra training do you need to get
   • What relationships and connections do you need to begin building
4. Don’t be afraid to take a position now, that will enable you to land that position on the next rung in your ladder in a few years.  Many times you have have to take a few jobs along the way as you move up the ladder.
5. When looking at jobs and positions see how a job or any job that you can land will be a vital part of you “climbing the ladder”.
6. Set a goal of trying to stay in each position 2 years and then move to that next step in your career road map…..
