During networking and your job search you want to present a positive and professional appearance.  Always overdress just a little or make sure you are dressed professionally for any event.  If the event is more casual such as a Friday afternoon happy hour on a patio, wear a nice business casual outfit such as slacks and a shirt/sport coat for men and a nice slacks and blouse or business casual dress for women.
